The Saint-Agathe de LONGUYON collegiate church was built in the XIth century, on the place of a former chapel. It had while of the central nave. At the same time, the square tower was built in purposes of protection of the population against any attacks. We could reach this tower only by a heightened door, by which we removed the scale of access. The tower communicated with the church only much later. A surrounding wall strengthened by protection surrounded then the church and its cemetery. In the XIIIth century, while the collegiate church was under the partial protection of the Abbey of Orval, it was modified by the increase of the central nave and by the addition of both side naves. In the XVIIIth century, the internal ground of the church was paved with paving stones got back in the court of the castle of Mussy. You can admire a representing picture martyr of saint-Agathe there, situated inside over the front door. This painting of the XVIIIth century was realized by a monk of the Abbey of Orval, brother Abraham GILSON.
August 27th, 1914, priest BRAUX and abbot PERSYN, accused of espionage, were shot by German. During the same war, the German servicemen seized bells of the church in 1917 to melt them and make it of the armament.
