The village of Marville....

If there is an extraordinary village near LONGUYON, it is the village of Marville . This village is indeed extraordinary by the size of its past but especially by all the former constructions which remain there.
This deprived village was nevertheless, for long centuries, the most important city of the region: a strong place with its ramparts and its castle; administrative centre of a provostship, at first ducale, then royal, occupant of numerous civil servants; religious center with its prieuré Benedictine and its Benedictines convent, but still hospitable, with its “Commanderie de Saint-Antoine”, its two hospitals of the Holy-Spirit and St Bernard.
You should not either forget the living being middle-class person's community, enriched by the industry of sheets and leather and by the business. MARVILLE was finally arts centre, a " town of Art ".
MARVILLE, in spite of all the destructions, still offers to the visitors the charm of its beautiful church, its old houses in the sculptured facades and a unique formed set, by the cemetery Saint-Hilaire, its chapel-museum and its curious ossuary.

The village welcomed on its territory a NATO air base from 1953 till 1967 (see the Totem).

Today, the municipality tries to develop a tourism so cultural as of "green" leisure, with notably the setting-up of the stretch of water and its diverse activities: nautical, equestrian, campsite, shelters, etc....
