The memorial of Noërs ( 1914 )

This monument was set up to the memory of the French and German soldiers fallen on the battlefield on August 24th, 1914, during the invasion of France by German.

The German troops arriving by LONGUYON, and the French people being deducted over Noers, the battle was violent and numerous soldiers fell on both sides. In spite of the French artillery, the French soldiers had to withdraw under the fire of machine guns in the direction of DAMVILLERS.

The duel of artillery makes a commitment till eleven hours of the day of August 24th, 1914. At some moments, all the city of LONGUYON burns. Immediately begin the slaughter and the plunder. These acts of vandalisms are the work of 22nd, 122nd and 156th of Prussian infantry, commanded by the general von MOLTKE; 86 inhabitants were massacred and 231 plundered then burned-out houses.
